Real/Unreal

Filmed in Kampala — including Idi Amin’s former palace and the National Mosque — the work adopts the visual grammar of third-person video games: controlled movement, navigable spaces, and a world structured around an implied player.

This grammar is applied to sites marked by political violence and historical weight, exposing how contemporary perception is shaped by interactive logics. Produced in collaboration with Wakaliwood — a Ugandan action cinema studio that operates with full awareness of its position within global image economies — the work situates itself inside the problem it examines rather than outside it.
